Tia Confirmed as PRVN Team Alternate for 2023 CrossFit Games
As the CrossFit community eagerly anticipates the upcoming 2023 CrossFit Games, one question has been on everyone’s mind: will Tia-Clair Toomey compete this year? Toomey, who is currently expecting a child and due to give birth in May, has finally provided an answer. In a recent YouTube video, Toomey confirmed that she will serve as the alternate for the PRVN team if they qualify for the Games.
The PRVN team, consisting of Andrea Nisler, Tola Morakinyo, Taylor Williamson, and Tim Paulson, has been training hard under the guidance of coach/husband Shane Orr. Toomey’s addition as the backup athlete will provide the team with an extra layer of support and experience.
“I feel very fortunate and honoured that the team has chosen me to be their alternate this year”
- Tia-Clair Toomey
Toomey’s announcement comes just as the CrossFit Games season is about to heat up, with the Semi-Finals taking place between May and June. The PRVN team will have the chance to qualify for the Games during this stage, and the community is eagerly anticipating their performance.
While Toomey’s role as the backup athlete means that she will not be competing in the Games herself, it showcases her dedication to the sport and her team. Her decision to remain involved in the competition while prioritising her health and the health of her child is admirable and speaks to her love for the sport.
The CrossFit community has been supportive of Toomey’s decision, and fans are excited to see how the PRVN team performs in the Semi-Finals and, hopefully, at the CrossFit Games. With her experience and expertise, the team will undoubtedly have a competitive edge and will be one to watch during the upcoming season.
